This monthly feature will give you the inside scoop on our events from backstage passes to interviews with our speakers, here’s what happens In Any Event.
The Priscilla Shirer Simulcast, a day packed full of scriptural wisdom, prayer, and worship, is just around the corner, and we’re getting excited. If you’re joining us by hosting your small group at home, read on for countless ideas on how to treat your friends to the best simulcast event ever. And if you’re helping host the simulcast at your church on a larger scale, simply double (or triple!) the scrumptious recipes and break up the women into smaller groups for fun activities.
If you’re not sure if you’ll be joining us yet, there’s still time to register your church or small group, tune in alone, or find a church hosting the simulcast near you. Because this is an event you won’t want to miss.
As your guests arrive on the day of the event, have light breakfast items ready—donuts or bagels from a local bakery, homemade muffins (find an easy and healthy recipe below), yogurt cups, sliced fruit with sweet marshmallow dip (look for the two-ingredient recipe below), coffee, tea, and more.
Hand out gift bags stuffed with fun items they’ll need throughout the day like pens, tissues, chocolates, the Priscilla Shirer Simulcast program, and more. Also, have a couple extra Bibles on hand in case someone forgets her copy.
Hang the banner (provided below) against a wall as a backdrop for photos women can later post to Facebook or Instagram. And make sure everyone has been introduced. If you’re hosting a larger group of women, be on the lookout for women who are attending by themselves. Make an effort to introduce yourself and others to make sure they have the richest experience possible.
Throughout the day, you’ll follow this schedule (all times in Central Standard Time):
9:00 A.M. Event Begins
9:30 A.M. Prayer Experience
10:00 A.M. Session 1
11:15 A.M. Ministry Opportunity
11:30 A.M. Lunch Break
12:45 P.M. Worship
1:15 A.M. Prayer Experience
1:45 P.M. Session 2
2:45 P.M. Break
3:15 P.M. Worship
3:30 P.M. Session 3
4:30 P.M. Closing Worship
4:35 P.M. Event Concludes
For lunch, order in boxed meals from a local café, or prepare foods fit for a large group like make-your-own tacos, pasta bakes, a burger bar with fancy condiments, and such.
You’ll have an hour for lunch, so spend the time catching up with one another. Break out the conversation cards (provided below) to help women work through what they’re learning from God’s Word and Priscilla’s teaching. If you’re hosting a larger group, place the conversation cards on each table, so the women can get to know each other better and leave the event as friends at the end of the day.
During the afternoon break, feel free to get creative! Some small groups and churches fill the time crafting, while others work on community service projects. One church even offers their simulcast attendees armchair massages! To help the busy and over-extended women at your event feel special and pampered on a smaller scale, pool nail polish bottles and supplies and set up little manicure stations around the room.
Break out a fresh pot of coffee, cans of your favorite sparkling water, and easy-to-make snacks. Spoiling your friends has never been more fun. 🙂
Near the end of the break, be sure to usher everyone back into the study mindset for the final teaching session of the day by praying for your time together with the Lord.
You can’t go wrong when hosting the Priscilla Shirer Simulcast. Keep the atmosphere fun and the details simple. Remember to ask for help if you need it. Have friends bring a variety of breakfast, lunch, and snack items. Invite a few over early to help you decorate. Above all, it’s a day all about seeking after God together, so don’t worry about perfecting the details.
To get you started, we’ve created a fun banner, name tags, conversation cards, Scripture cards, and recipe cards for your event. Click here or on any of the images below for a PDF of the printables. Have fun!
