Once a month, you’re going to hear from some of our authors or from our team on how we study the Bible, what resources we use, and what questions we ask. Submit your questions related to these topics by filling out the form here!
I’m not sure if you’ve been down the Bible aisles in the store or searched for one online recently, but there are a lot of options! We’ve talked before about translations, but even if you narrow your search down to your favorite translation, you still have several Bibles to pick from. Here is a little guide to help you narrow down the search.
If you are looking for a Bible with devotions built in, check out the She Reads Truth Bible. Stunningly designed, this Bible invites women to be in the Word of God each day.
If you want to dig in more deeply to the context and background of a passage, we recommend a study Bible. The Study Bible for Women has the most tools of any study Bible and is created for women by women. It’s currently available in NKJV and NIV with a release in April in the new Christian Standard Bible version.
We also recommend the CSB Study Bible and the ESV Study Bible. Both are very helpful when planning to write or teach!
If you need a fresh perspective, try a Reader’s Bible. These Bibles feature single column text without verse and chapter numbers. This allows you to read the Bible without distraction, focusing on the big picture story of Scripture. A few options online: CSB, ESV, NKJV, NIV.
If you love church history, consider The Spurgeon Study Bible. This Bible features notes taken from Charles Spurgeon’s sermons, chosen and edited by Alistair Begg so that you may experience the richness of this revered preacher’s insights while studying God’s Word.
If you connect with God through art or love writing your thoughts, prayers, and insights in your Bible, you need a Notetaking or Journaling Bible. These Bibles have big margins for lots of notes, drawings, and creativity.
If you’d like guidance on how to read the Bible, look to The Disciple’s Study Bible. This Bible would also be great to give to a person you are discipling so you can walk through it together. It features study notes, a reading plan, and journaling space, along with discipleship articles.
*Links above may include only one option—other cover options and versions may be available at your local Lifeway Store or at Lifeway.com.
We only covered a few of the options available. What kind of Bible do you have and why do you love it? Share with us in the comments so we can all learn from one another.
What a privilege we have to live in a time and a place where so many options exist for us to study God’s Holy Word!
