This episode of MARKED features Maureen Kaderi. Maureen tells her story of growing up in a slum in Kenya to being sponsored by Compassion to working with Mercy House, helping other young women in poverty.
{MARKED} is a podcast for women who are marked by a hunger for God’s Word, a longing to impact culture, and a desire to discover and live out God’s calling in their lives. Each week, Mary Margaret Collingsworth will interview someone who is marked with that hunger, longing, and desire, and encourage listeners to be marked, as well.
About Maureen Kaderi:
Maureen is married and speaks 5 languages. She married Oliver in 2013 & welcomed a beautiful son, Amaziah, in 2015. Maureen traveled to the United States in the summer of 2010 on behalf of Compassion International to speak to thousands of students at Student Life Camps. Her moving life story led to the sponsorship of more than a thousand impoverished children. Both Maureen and Oliver are beneficiaries of Compassion International.
In March of 2010, blogger Kristen Welch traveled to Kenya, Africa, with Compassion International, to blog their relief efforts in the slums of Nairobi. She was especially burdened visiting Mathare Valley, one of Africa’s largest slums. Maureen and Kristen connected during that trip and Maureen has since become a very dear “daughter” of the Welch family. Just weeks after returning from Africa, Kristen emailed Maureen and asked if she knew of any ministries reaching out or offering an alternative to the young girls having backstreet abortions. She didn’t know of any.
