Men, we need to actively watch over our families. The first kind of active watching we need to do is to watch for opportunities to be used by God. It doesn’t matter where you work. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been following Christ. God wants to use your life. He wants to use you in the location where He has placed you. He wants to use you in the lives of people you encounter every day. God wants to use you.
Men who are praying for opportunities, seeking out opportunities, and watching (Remember, that’s what men do—they watch.) for opportunities to be used by God are going to be utilized in His kingdom. That’s the kind of heart we’re supposed to have—one that wants to be used.
God’s men want the ball. I’m not upset if someone who’s struggling with an issue approaches me at work needing to talk. I’m not upset if I work with a guy who’s a little hard to love. That’s what my life is about. I want to be used by God. Instead, I’m like, “Give me the ball. Just give me a chance.” That’s a big part of being a watchman.
Life is ticking by. None of us are as young as we used to be. For those who are just starting out on this manhood journey, hear this: Life goes by fast. You only get so many sunrises. You only get so many chances to be used by God. There are only so many people right in front of you that you can reach. Now, you want the ball!
You want that. Men look for, long for, and watch for their opportunities to be used by God.
