Parents, today your child heard the Bible story of Jesus and Zacchaeus. Even though Zacchaeus was probably the most hated person in Jericho, Jesus chose to spend time with him. The result was a changed life! Does your family love people like Jesus loves them?
Our Daily Bible Reading today is such a great reminder in these times. God loves all. There are no favorites. Find out how to be acceptable in verse 35.
“What makes Zacchaeus so special is that he was an average man.” Read more of what Steve Andrews has to say about going “Out on a Limb” here https://www.lifeway.com/en/articles/sermon-out-on-a-limb-zaccheus-luke-19
None of us has an idyllic life. Health issues, disappointing relationships, and stumbling blocks in a world full of sin and insecurity pull us down. Thankfully though, this world is not all there is. The closing chapters of the Book of Revelation show us God provides a permanent home where He will dwell with those in His family. It is a home with no health issues, no insecurities, and no sin.
Take it Further: Check out the “Jesus and Zacchaeus” section of the Bible Studies for Life: Kids Family App. There are engaging activities that are fun for everyone to help dive further into this week’s lesson and it’s free to download.
As you learn the Unit Verse as a family, focus on the first part of the verse, “Go into all the world.” Talk about places your family might travel to help people know the good news about Jesus. You don’t have to travel to a foreign country. Going somewhere in your community to spread kindness helps spread the gospel to others.
