Relationship Status—Session 5—Share Christ

July 3, 2017 By mhawk 2 Comments

Jesus’ first disciples, when they recognized that He was the Messiah, couldn’t help but share with their friends and family. They’d found the One who would bring them great joy, but their joy wouldn’t be full until they shared it with others. We have the opportunity to invite others to Jesus, too. He could change lives through these simple invitations.

John 1:35-49

Think back to a big moment in your life—one that had a huge impact on your direction or future. Maybe it was a new job, a move to a new city, your engagement, or something else. Chances are, when you made the choice or learned that what you’d hoped for would become a reality, you didn’t keep it to yourself. We naturally want to share big news with friends and family. When Andrew and Philip ran into Jesus and were convinced in their hearts that He was the Messiah, they told their brothers as soon as they had the chance.

It seems the American church may not be characterized by this same sense of urgency. It may be because we don’t understand God’s call to share of Jesus. However, it’s more likely because we simply don’t have stories we see as worth sharing. Andrew and Philip didn’t share because they’d received a mandate. They shared because they’d been with Jesus, they’d experienced His love and power, and they had a story to tell.

  • This week, commit to putting yourself in positions where you can see God work. Experience your own stories you can’t help but share with others.

Help! I use the EXTRA! Ideas for Adults for additional questions in our Bible studies and I am not finding it this week. Has this been removed?
