American culture focuses on the individual. When a person comes to Christ, that person also comes to Christ’s body: the church. Therefore, to serve Christ, we serve His body. Serving the church and the needs of fellow believers is serving Christ. As Christians, we are called to serve Jesus, and serving Him means serving others.
1 Peter 4:7-11
Most days seem so normal—with work, lunches, sports, family, and entertainment—that we can easily lose sight of the fact that the ultimate reality is a spiritual one. However, when we read something like the end of all things is near, our spiritual senses should perk up. At any moment, everything we know could totally change. For many, this is cause for great celebration, but for many more, there could be no worse news.
- This week, as you meditate on our passage from 1 Peter, pray that you would be deeply impacted by the fact that Jesus could come at any moment to judge the world. Devote yourself to encouraging the church and to reaching the lost. As you live these things out in a practical sense, you’ll better know how to help students do the same.
