Use these Christ Connection statements as you teach Unit 2 “Loving My Family” to show kids that the entire Bible points to Jesus.
Unit 2, Session 1
Preschool: God sent Joseph to Egypt. God was with Joseph, and Joseph had a big job and lots of power. God used Joseph’s power to help Joseph’s family and many others. Jesus had a lot of power in heaven, but He left heaven to come to earth. Jesus came to save people from sin.
Kids: God sent Joseph to Egypt and blessed him so that he rose to a position of great power. God used Joseph to help Joseph’s family and many others. Jesus gave up His position of great power to be the Savior of the world.
Unit 2, Sessions 2 and 3
Preschool: God saved Moses’ life so Moses could one day save God’s people from the Egyptian king. God used His Son, Jesus, to save people in an even better way. God sent Jesus to earth to save us from our sin.
Kids: God saved Moses to rescue His people. The calling of Moses points to a greater calling and rescue—the call of Jesus to come to earth to save God’s people from sin. Moses and Jesus both obeyed God’s commands in order to carry out His plan of salvation. Moses delivered God’s people from physical captivity; Jesus delivered God’s people from captivity to sin.
Unit 2, Session 4
Preschool: Boaz helped his close relatives. Boaz was a family redeemer. He bought back what his relatives lost. Jesus is our Redeemer. He bought our salvation from sin by dying on the cross.
Kids: Boaz was a family redeemer. That means he would help his close relatives who were in trouble. Boaz cared for Ruth and Naomi because their husbands had died. In a similar way, Jesus is our Redeemer. We need help because we sin. Jesus bought our salvation for us by taking our punishment when He died on the cross.
