Jesus told us to love one another.
This week, 67 believers have gathered to show that love is more than just a word. Love is action. As DCTalk once said, “Love, Love, Love, Love… love is a verb.”
All the groups have arrived here in Moore, some driving all night to make the trip. The air mattresses are inflated. The coolers are ready to be filled. The nail aprons have been dispersed. We spent the evening getting to know one another, learning about what has happened here, and worshipping Our Great God together as brothers and sisters in Christ.
This week our Worship Speaker, Kyle Wiltshire, has been lead to share with us what God has taught him about suffering– whether it’s suffering that we’ve inflicted upon ourselves by being disobedient, suffering from people who have sinned against us, suffering as a result of natural disaster/sickness, suffering from the testing of our faith, or suffering for the Gospel.
We are in a city that knows what it feels like to suffer. This week we are working alongside a church affiliated organization called Serve Moore. Serve Moore was started by Chris Fox who is a local youth minister. When disaster struck, he wanted the church to be at the forefront of the action making a way for volunteers to come, serve, and rest their heads. Serve Moore has planted its office in another local churches gymnasium as has seen 30,000 volunteers walk in and out of their doors.
Pray that God breaks our hearts for our own sin, so that we might be an effective agent of hope, love, and revival in the city of Moore, OK. God brought us here to deliver relief, but we know the greatest impact we can have on this city is to see lives changed for the glory of His name. That is “Why We Are Here.”
PS. Don’t forget you can send Encouragrams online… called E-Couragrams! Look at the top of the left column and click the “Send E-Couragram” button. This will take you to a page where you can submit your encouragram form. FYI: Any E-Couragrams sent after noon on Friday will not make their way to students. We shut the portal down at noon. Encourage your friends now! Don’t wait until the last minute.
