Today was the first day that the participants went out to their worksites, and it turned out great! These students and leaders hit the ground running. Tons of houses were chipped of the old paint, and primed and ready to start painting to make them look good as new. Everyone is so excited and can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow.
I was able to talk to a homeowner today, and this is one of my favorite parts of my day. To see the look on the faces and the tears welling up in their eyes; they are experiencing the love that God has for them through the hands and feet of these wonderful people from around the country and it is a beautiful thing. “It’s a dream come true. I can’t explain how much this means to me,” said one of the homeowners.
This morning we did something called the “great send off.” Everyone went to downtown Clovis, where the city began, and got together with some representatives from the Clovis agency and prayed for the work that was going to be done and for the hearts and lives of everyone that will be impacted. From there, they all left and went to their worksites and began a great day of work!
Thanks for all of your help and prayers for the week!
