Since a new year begins on Sunday, we thought we’d dedicate this We Love Wednesday to staying in God’s Word throughout the year. Here are a few resources we love to help you dig into the Bible in January and all year through.
We could all use help in making a habit of prayer. We love the idea of using the psalms to pray each day for 40 days in order to help form a habit of prayer and reading the Bible.
If you want to dive in deep and read through the Bible this year, we love how George Guthrie’s Read the Bible for Life helps us to apply God’s Word to our lives. It also features a few different plans for reading the whole Bible in a year.
Maybe reading the entire Bible in a year seems overwhelming. We get that! That’s why we love Robby and Kandi Gallaty’s Foundations. It is a Bible reading plan for busy people. Each day, you’ll read a passage from the Bible and a short devotional along with being challenged to learn to read and respond to the Bible on your own. It’s great for new Christians and seasoned believers who want to fall more in love with Scripture.
Another resource we recommend if you want to fall in love with Scripture is Open Your Bible by Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams. This study will teach you how Scripture is for you and for now, why reading the Bible is important, and how it applies to our everyday lives.
We love Proverbs 31 ministries and their online Bible studies. They’re a great way to be held accountable and learn alongside community. This January, they’re studying Finding I AM by Lysa TerKeurst. Check out the online study details here.
Many of you are talented artists and you like to draw and paint Scripture. We love seeing all your journaling Bibles on Instagram! We recommend picking up a Journaling Bible if you would like to try soaking in Scripture through more creative means.
A great resolution for a new year is to start memorizing more Scripture. We plan to use these Scripture cards from Beth Moore’s Entrusted study to learn 2 Timothy by heart!
And finally, there’s an app for that! Several, actually. We love the convenience of studying the Bible through our phones, since we always have them with us. Whether it’s through an email we read each morning or quick snippets in the carpool line, we love being able to read God’s Word throughout the day. We recommend She Reads Truth, Bible Gateway, DevoHub, and the First5 app for studying the Bible every day.
