    I have taught Mary Jo’s “Why Do You Believe That?” study twice at my church. Can’t wait to explore and share her new study. The book of 1 Peter is where the major verse on the need to by ready to defend our faith is found (3:15). Delving into the broader issue of faith and of this verse’s larger context will be an adventure with Mary Jo leading the way, I’m sure.

    I just realized our post was supposed to answer a question rather than talk about her study. Sorry I missed that. So in answer to what verse do I cling to the most: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Phil. 4:6

    And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

    Our bible study group has been hit hard with big life changing events. We need resilient faith.

    The Scripture verse that I cling to through difficulties is Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

    I love Zephaniah 3:17. It is always a comfort.

    I have experienced a series of life changing events beginning with my father’s death from cancer in 2003, my husband of 23.5 years walking out on me and our two daughters in 2005, and then being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and thyroid cancer in 2008. This verse gave me strength to stand firm in The Lord, “The name of The Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10. I still proclaim His power over my life and am blessed beyond measure. I would love to use this study with a small group of ladies that I mentor each month.

    Hope is my word for 2014 and the verse that reminds me to hope is Romans 15:13: I always pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so you will overflow with confident hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. I love how this verse shows us the outcome of trust… Joy and peace. Thanks so much for offering this giveaway. It would be a huge blessing to our Women’s Ministry.

    So many to choose from! I have to say that Matthew 11:28 really helps me, knowing that I can come to Jesus when I need peace. Whether after a hard day of work or when I am emotionally drained. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

    The Scripture that I always cling to when I’m going through a tough time is Matthew 6:34. On the Sermon on the Mount Jesus tells his disciples “Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” This verse alone has brought me out of my worry self. I used to always worry about things but I learned to just deal with today, deal with the present instead of worrying about the then. God’s got it under control. Needless to say, God does have it He always has and always will. Our ladies group has already gone through the Why do you believe that Bible study and this study would just be another added blessing to our church and grow stronger in our faith.

    What a message. The Lord longs and yearns to be gracious to us! How can we deny such a gift.
    Spring will soon arrive. What a blessing it would be for our ladies group to learn more about the Lord with this Bible Study.

    There are so many scriptures I go to, but one that comes to mind is Ps 103. Remembering what God has done for me helps me a lot during stressful times.
