Today’s guest post is from Amy Jacobs, a friend of Lifeway Women. She works as a marketing strategist for the magazine and young adult ministries of Lifeway. In her spare time, she blogs at Gather and Build. Here are her thoughts on easy art ideas for your home.
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” That’s what William Morris said. But what makes a house beautiful?
I tend to think that the most beautiful things inside a house are the hearts therein and the thoughts and attitudes we cultivate inside our walls.
Here’s a little beauty for the walls that inspires beauty for the soul.
Live Simply.
Aren’t we all trying to shake off the things that jam-pack our lives and get to the heart of matters? This digital download is just seconds from hanging on your wall. How simple is that?
Be Grateful.
The practice of gratitude starts with naming the things for which we are grateful. These words from Ralph Waldo Emerson are a nice start to a long list of things I have to consider.
Pursue Unity.
This sentiment from The Book of Common Prayer is a reminder of how powerful our homes can be:
“Make their life together a sign of love to this sinful and broken world, that unity may overcome estrangement, forgiveness heal guilt, and joy conquer despair.”
Look Forward.
These words from C.S. Lewis remind me to keep this life in perspective.
