Another VBS 2011 Song – By Faith!

To those of you who joined us today for the VBS webcast, it was a lot of fun!! Can’t wait to get the video archive – I was busy chatting away with you guys, so I didn’t even get to see it!

One of the things we did during the VBS webcast was a Q&A time with Jerry Wooley, our VBS Ministry Specialist, and Jeff Slaughter, our VBS songwriter. During that time, Jeff shared about his favorite song from VBS 2011, which is called “By Faith.”

While he was sharing that, I realized that you guys haven’t had a chance to hear it yet, so here goes – this is the “radio mix” of By Faith!!

Be a part of our first VBS live webcast!!!

I’m so excited about our VBS 2011 Worship Rally Live webcast next week.  We already have over 500 people who are planning to watch, and there’s definitely room for  more!!  This is our first live webcast, and with the response we are getting it won’t be our last! You can sign up for a reminder email at http://www.lifeway.com/vbslive

Here are the details:

On Wednesday, August 11th at 8:30 AM, we will begin streaming our pre-Worship Rally video at this website: http://www.lifeway.com/vbslive

At 9 AM, we will move to a live feed from Van Ness Auditorium in Nashville, TN, where you can experience the first ever presentation of the VBS 2011 Worship Rally!! We will be doing some Big Apple Adventure music, previewing the Worship Rally Video for 2011, and looking at one of the missions videos for 2011. We’ll also have a live chat going on during the worship rally if you would like to participate.

After the live worship rally, we’ll have a live Q&A session with Jeff Slaughter.  If you have questions  you would like to ask Jeff Slaughter or the LifeWay VBS team, go ahead and email them to lifewayvbs@gmail.com!

Be sure to tune in before 9 AM in order to make sure the audio and video stream is working on your computer.

Also,  if you are in the Nashville area and want to join us in person, we would love to have you!

And, if you can’t be a part of our live audience, don’t worry. We’ll be moving the video taken from the day to our LifeWay VBS You Tube page, and eventually our new VBS 2011 website.

Some VBS 2011 Set Photos

This week is our annual VBS photo and video shoot, so it’s the first time our sets for Big Apple Adventure have been set up this year. I think they look pretty good! What do you think?

Saddle Ridge Ranch – in MOLDOVA???

Every summer for the past four years, I have had the privilege of visiting some of my favorite people in the world, – the kids who live at the school for orphaned and abandoned children in Falesti, Moldova. My church has been doing camp in Falesti for the orphans who have no place to live for the summer for the last 6 or 7 years. This year, when we got to camp, imagine my surprise when I saw this:

I was sooooooooooooo excited to see that my friends had experienced Saddle Ridge Ranch VBS the week before we got there.  One of my favorite things was to hear sweet Catea (pictured below) yell “yeee-haw” in a southern accent. It was so cute!

I’m not 100% sure which church visited Falesti the week before our team did, but I think it was Shearer Hills Baptist Church from San Antonio, Texas. If any of you from Shearer Hills happen to read this blog, thank you for ministering to some of the most wonderful, beautiful kids I know.

Do you use your Vacation Bible School curriculum to minister to kids overseas? I would love for you to share your stories with us in the comments section.

Fun on VBS 2011 theme announcement day!

Hopefully some of you guys had some fun spotting the VBS 2011 theme on the morning of June 14th at the Today Show, The Early Show, or Good Morning America! Big thanks to our friends at the Gallery Church who helped us get the word out about the Big Apple Adventure!

If you missed it, here are some clips:

And some pics of our signholders and morning show celebrities!!

3 reasons I'm pumped about VBS 2011. . .

1. It’s ALL about Jesus – more specifically, it’s all about how people’s lives were changed when they had an encounter with Jesus. Check out the biblical content for kids here:  http://www.lifeway.com/vbs2011/bigapple/

2. Urban ministry is strategic – more than half of the world’s population now live in urban areas. With over 8 million of God’s greatest creations living in New York City, many of whom don’t know Christ, I personally think it is a very strategic place to focus on.

3. Did I mention that it’s all about Jesus?
