Can I Buy That Scarf?

That was the question of the day at each of the Preview locations we visited. If you were able to join us at one of our events, you probably had your picture made in the Expo area. It was a ton of fun taking everyone’s pictures and posting them to Facebook.

Jeff and Friends Ready for Takeoff

Each person who had their picture made received a free pair of VBS 2012 Pilot Goggles and got to wear an amazing scarf with the VBS logo. Many people asked if the scarves were a product we sell. Unfortunately, the answer is, “No.” However, with an iron and a VBS 2012 Logo Iron-On, you can create your own fabulous scarves.

We purchased fleece scarves at a local store, and used the iron-ons to place the logo on one end of each scarf. Because our scarves were fleece, we set the iron temperature just a little lower than instructed to keep the fleece from scorching. Other than that, just follow the instructions on the package.

Now for the exciting part! Leave a comment on this post by next Thursday, March 1 and you may win your very own set of scarves. Three lucky folks will be selected randomly to receive a set of 2 scarves. Can it get any better than that?

    Dearest Carol,
What should one do if the scarves become entangled in my propeller? I tried killing the engine but I rapidly begin to descend. I also am having difficulty texting this to you while flying. Can you please respond immediately, I’m running low on fuel.

    Signed,
First time flyer and current GEEK OF THE WEEK!

Thought the scarves were a wonderful touch to the pictures! We are planning on doing family pictures with the plane, goggles and scarves as a promotion for VBS!!

  3. Marisol Morales says

The scarves are a great idea. I would have never have thought to use one. We love the idea of using them during our vbs season to promote the theme and event.
    Thank you.

Love all the pictures and comments. Working on getting our VBS planned and get more excited each day. Will you ever have a preview or workshop in the Anniston Alabama area?

  5. Fran Nelson says

I love the scarf idea. I bought the iron ons and have set out to find some scarves but in southeast Georgia where it will be 80 today (Feb 23), they are hard to come by. I did find some in a Walmart a little farther north of where I stay but the only color that I thought was useable was a light grey. Hope I win some white ones.

  6. Amy Tandon says

Would LOVE to receive the scarves! Our small church has a very bare bones budget, and any little extra would be greatly appreciated!!!

  7. says

I truly love all the posts of VBS. I have been looking on your web site since last July when my 1st VBS ended. For I wanted to know ahead of time what the theme was for 2012. I have already together our crafts for our little church for we are little with alittle budget. Our church is First Baptist Church of Ocklawaha in Ocklawaha, Florida. I so love all the posts I get and they so inspire me so much. This year I have been asked to be the VBS director & I am a bit scarey, but I know that my Lord will guide me through it with the help of all our people at church. And I couldn’t ask for such awesome help. Thank you so much for your ideas. Keep up the great work you all do. All the ideas including the scarves are so awesome. And you are all so aweseome. Thank you again!

The iron on patch made a nice touch to the scarf. I had a blast at the Preview event in Fort Worth. We are ready to have VBS.

  32. says

Absolutely loved the Ft. Worth “Amazing Wonders Aviation” training!! What a special time we had with all of the conferences attended and then the musical and a time of honoring Jeff!

  33. Denise Smith says

The scarves are a great touch in the photos. I am searching for white scarves or maybe white fabric and cut them out. This would be a great craft project. This is my 11th year directing VBS. I pray everyone has a blessed VBS!

I attended the Ft. Worth, Texas event for the second year and was once again impressed with everything! I am recommending it to everyone!

Love the scarves and now is a great time to pick some up cheap! Would love to win the first two though! Does anyone have any idea where to find a pilot hat? I would only need one of those!

    • Charles says

I purchased several from a costume shop online…can’t remember the name…there are so many. Just Google “kids pilot hat” and you will find some great sites with them…I gave @ $8 for each.

For the last 9 yrs I have been the association music team leader, as well as the photographer for my own church. I cant wait until our vbs flight is cleared for take off in June.

  38. Anne says

Perhaps scarves can be made from felt purchased at Walmart or other fabric stores by the yard. Felt does not have to be hemmed and can be fringed. The logo can be ironed on it, also. Felt is usually 60 inches wide. You could get 6 scarves out of one yard!

  39. shelly Keller says

What a fun idea for a vbs prop especially since summer is too hot for bomber jackets in Kansas! We like to give the kids something to wear to differentiate between groups and we could do these in different colors for each of the groups. What fun!

  40. Jill D says

Love the scarf! If I win I will share! Don’t think a fleece scarf would be smart attire to wear in the hot outside for my VBS registration duties!

  41. Vickie says

This is a really great idea for VBS kick-off. We are going to invite some local pilots to our kick-off and maybe one of them will bring their small plane for us to use for a photo shoot that day. The scarfs are a great idea and they bring the picture together well.

  42. Bonnie Barnes says

love the scarves idea…am really excited about the VBS theme this year…thanks for all the great ideas!!!
