Back at it

Digging out Physically I'm back from my mission trip from Poland.  Mentally?  Well that's a whole other story!  I'm having a hard time getting it all together thanks to jet lag.  I'll do my best to muddle through the week and get to the weekend.  I think I can!  I think I can! My trip went great... a good week serving in southern Poland! New book record I hit a reading record while on my trip.  I read a complete 360 page book in one day.  Thanks to long layovers and flights on Sunday, I … [Read more...]

Through Waters Deep by Sarah Sundin

Historical novelist take a research road trip And the winner for one of the most beautiful book covers for 2015 goes to Through Waters Deep by Sarah Sundin.  I just love that cover, don't you?!  Had to make it nice and big so you can see it good. Sarah is starting off The Waves of Freedom Series with this new release (that's now at LifeWay, by the way!).  Here's a peak at the story. It is 1941 and America teeters on the brink of war. Outgoing naval officer Ensign Jim Avery escorts … [Read more...]

What I’ve Been Reading

Catching up on my favorites Happy Friday! I've been plowing through my "to be read" stack the last couple of weeks.  I've been in a fiction only mode and have been enjoying the new novels by some of my favorite novelists.  I thought I'd share with you a bit about two of them. Until the Harvest by Sarah Loudin Thomas When family tragedy derails Henry Phillips's college studies, he's left unmoored and feeling abandoned. The only things that can tamp down his grief are the family farm, his … [Read more...]

What’s Really Going on With Christian Fiction

A response to the chatter Recently there was a blog post and subsequent discussion on the current state of Christian fiction. While there was much truth in the post there were moments of chastising retailers for what they do and do not carry; LifeWay being the main one discussed. What is the current landscape of Christian (or CBA) fiction? Well, it's changing and it’s oftentimes hard to navigate. It's so different than when I started buying books, let alone selling them as an associate … [Read more...]

Books I’m Looking Forward To

Novels I'm eager to read Yesterday I shared some of the nonfiction books that are releasing in the last half of 2015 that I'm anxious to read.  Today, we're talking fiction!  We all know that I read a lot more fiction than non (although I try to diversify myself, honest!) so this list is a bit longer.  Lots of great stuff coming! How about you?  Are there any novels you're looking forward to getting lost in? A Noble Masquerade by Kristi Ann Hunter (September) Lady Miranda Hawthorne … [Read more...]

LifeWay’s Novelist of the Month: Sarah Ladd

Get to know a rising author One of my favorite new authors over the last couple of years has been Sarah Ladd.  She is bringing excellent novels set in Regency England to our market.  If you're a fan of Julie Klassen or even our beloved Jane Austen, you'll certainly want to check out Sarah's books. Her newest one, The Curiosity Keeper, is on it's way to LifeWay this week.  "It is not just a ruby, as you say. It is large as a quail’s egg, still untouched and unpolished. And it is rumored … [Read more...]
