Mid-Week Links: The It’s-Fall-But-It-Doesn’t-Feel-Like-It Edition

Is anyone else as excited as I am that it is Fall! It is just my very favorite time of year. The chill in the air – okay that hasn’t happened just yet. The changing of the leaves – well, that will be happening soon. Still, according to the calendar, Fall is here and I am thrilled.

I don’t know about your neck of the woods but, here in my world, it’s supposed to be rainy and somewhat cool. So, I’m going to make some coffee, relax on the couch and pretend that it’s cold outside. I’ll also be checking out some of my favorite bloggers. Maybe, you would like to check them out, too!coffee

I don’t know about y’all, but this world seems to be spinning crazy fast. Sometimes, anxiety sets in because I just can’t keep up. Lately, however, I feel like God has been speaking a word to be ever-fretful heart. You don’t need to keep up. You need to slow down.

There is freedom in letting go of the need to keep up.

My prayer for you today, sweet friends, is that you would slow down just a little. Linger over that cup of coffee a little longer. Snuggle the kiddos a few extra minutes at bedtime. Turn off the television and gaze out of the window instead.

For a moment, just breathe.

Mid-Week Links: The I-Think-We-Are-Going-To-Make-It Edition

There is something about a Wednesday that makes me think, “I’ve almost made it.”

See, Monday morning greeted me with three sick kids and a teething baby. Some days are just that way.

I rallied a little on Tuesday when I fixed our broken vacuum cleaner. It had been out of commission for several days – okay, fine – it had been several weeks. I was beginning to have floors that you could eat off of – not because of their cleanliness, mind you, but because of the amount of food crumbs on them. I took that baby apart, put it back together and it worked. I’m certain that Proverbs 31:32 would have read, “She repaireth small household appliances.”

So, here we are at Wednesday. I think we are going to be just fine, y’all. I hope you will pour yourself a nice hot cup of whatever floats your boat and enjoy these lovely links.

Lovely Links

Happy Friday, everyone! I don’t know about where you are but, here in Kentucky, the weather has really been cool this week. Also, some of the area schools actually started yesterday. So, it feels a little bit like fall.

Yesterday, on Facebook, we asked folks how long they’ve been married. Mercy, you should check it out! There are several couples that have been married over 50 years. That, my friends, is something to be respected. There are also many under the ten year mark. I love how our little community includes so many in different stages of life. There is a lot of experience and wisdom that could be shared among that group.

Don’t forget to print out August’s Family Time Calendar!

I hope your weekend is just fabulous! Here is are a few good links to get you started.

Blessings!

Mid-Week Links: The Stay Cool Edition

Here’s to all of the parents trying to entertain the kiddos for these hot, hot, summer days. Believe me, I feel your pain. Send the kids out to play with the water hose, grab something cool to drink, and enjoy these posts.

Happy Wednesday!

A Little Monday Reading

Welcome to Monday, y’all! Do you want to know what I did over the holiday weekend? Absolutely nothing and, let me tell you, it was fabulous. Sometimes, we just need to give ourselves a break and a nice rainy weekend is just what we need. It’s permission to stay in our pajamas, sit on the couch, drink coffee and watch an Andy Griffith marathon.

So, we are just going to ease slowly into this week. Okay? I read several really great posts over the weekend and I’m going to pass them along to a few of favorite folks. That would be YOU!

Have a great day. You are loved!

Mid-Week Links: The Come-on-in-and-Sit-a-Spell Edition

It is Hump Day, y’all! Does anyone still call it that?

I am in a horrible slump when it comes to meal planning. Can I be honest and tell you that I really do not enjoy cooking? The thing is – I live among a people intent on eating. Anyone else? So, last week, I tried something new. I thought I would make meals that started with the same letter as the day of the week. Taco Tuesday. Sloppy Joe Saturday. Hump Day Ham. Today, however, we are probably having chicken. Yeah, Hump Day chicken – hmm.

The meal name game lasted about a week because I’m consistent like that.  My best friend, Robin, is totally nodding her head in agreement right now. She knows that I change my mind more often than I change my clothes. That is not an exaggeration either because I have not gotten out of my pajamas in two days. Don’t judge me.

Also, my oldest daughter leaves tomorrow for her very first church camp. She has never been away from home except for the occasional sleepover at grandma’s house. She is going to be fine, but I need someone to hold me. I’m a mess.

I hope you have a fabulous day, my friends!

Happy Friday, My Friends!

I have had some serious technical difficulties this week and was without Internet. Without. Internet. I know! It was close at times but, in the end, I did survive. One afternoon, I even resorted to cleaning out my car. Oh, friends. It was getting mighty scary in there. Sometime after the second kid, I really just gave up on ever having a vehicle that was not full of french fries and unexplained stickiness.

A couple of years ago, I was in a car accident. I rear ended a Gutter Guard truck. In my defense, I was trying to put my drink from McDonald’s into my cup holder. I missed the cup holder and the cup began to fall so, without thinking, I reached with both hands to grab it. The next thing I knew I had airbag burn on my face. As they loaded my car onto the tow truck, all I could think of was that some poor mechanic was going to open the door and be buried alive in half eaten cheerios. I called my dad, who knowing very well the state of my vehicle, met me at the garage with a roll of big black trash bags. You know – the ones normally reserved for yard work and hauling dead bodies.

So, all of that to say, I didn’t have Internet so I now have a clean car. I know that story was positively riveting and you are now sitting on the edge of your seat awaiting my next tale. Yeah.

Sadly, I missed posting Mid-Week Links. I hate for y’all to miss out on the Internety goodness from this week. So, we will just have a little linky fun today. Shall we?

Don’t let the linky post fool you! It’s not Wednesday – it’s Friday!

You are loved! Have a great weekend!

Mid-Week Links: The Trash Day Edition

It’s Wednesday, sweet friends. I don’t know what that means for you (other than some fabulous links brought to you from a lady in her pajamas who guzzles her coffee because she ain’t got time for sippin’.) For me, however, it means trash day.

I find trash day to be a funny thing. I mean, I want it to come because a family of six produces a whole. lot. of. trash. Yet, I dread the whole trash removal process. The emptying of the various household trash cans. The attempt to make it all fit in the big, green receptacle which always seems to smell like death. The art of rolling it to the curb while only touching it with the tips of your fingers because, hello, it’s a large pile of trash that smells like death.

I began thinking about this last night as I kept my husband awake until 2:00 a.m. purging my mind of all the worries I had been hoarding for several weeks. See, we all have trash. We all have issues that we need to tie up, take to the curb and leave. It’s not always that easy, is it? We just want to hold on to our trash and pretend that it doesn’t stink. Sometimes, however, we need someone to speak truth. Someone must stand up and say the emperor has no clothes or, in our case, tell us that our trash does stink.

So, today, let’s just be honest and quit pretending that we don’t all have trash. ‘Kay? Let’s pause and ask God to reveal those things that we need to remove from our hearts, minds and homes. You have trash and it’s okay because I do, too. But, if we would just open up to one another, we could work together and take it to the curb.

Y’all are sweeter than Nutella on a graham cracker.

Happy Wednesday!

ALSO – don’t forget to join the roll call (a.k.a. prayer chain) we’ve got going on in yesterday’s post!)
