Pressure Points Session 6: Discussion Option for Men

Question #4 in the “Pressure of Retaliation” session asks, “What does patience offer that retaliation or revenge never will?” This video tells the story behind Matthew West’s song “Forgiveness.” Matthew explains that the song was written based on the story of a family’s forgiveness of a young man who killed their daughter in a drunk driving accident. Show the video to the men in your group, and ask Question #4 again, only this time focusing on what patience offers the person against whom you might otherwise retaliate.

I’m not all that impressed by some of this new stuff anyhow and now you’re putting up stuff that I can’t even use. You know life does go on for people who don’t use computers for all this stuff. My pastor has offered to let us move over to the Standard Bible Lessons and after the next quarter or two of this nonsense I may have to take advantage of his offer.

    • James Jackson says:

Danny, so sorry you are not impressed. None of the extra options are required. They are all designed to supplement the session. We understand not everyone uses computers, so any suggestions that call for video or other technology are just that– suggestions.
Standard Bible Lessons are very good. The most important thing for you as a leader is to find the material that leads your particular group into relevant study of God’s Word. If another resource does that more effectively, then we praise God for that. God bless you in your work as a leader.

I think this is a wonderful video! Seeing how this mother handled forgiveness in the wake of losing a daughter is amazing! This can only happen through obedience and the mighty hand of our Lord! This gives such hope to those suffering so much pain from loss and unforgiveness. Thank for providing us with these kinds of options to supplement our studies!

    • James Jackson says:

Thank you, Dianne. I’m glad you found the video. Just because it is listed as an option for men’s groups doesn’t mean it couldn’t be used with other groups. Have a blessed day.

  3. Mark Lennon says:

I teach a co-ed adult class and I plan on using this video. Thanks for posting it. What a wonderful example of forgiveness.

  4. The video is great! Thanks for sharing. Would be good to include a link to the actual Forgiveness song as well, in case folks want to include that in their session. Including the scripture reference for each lesson would also be helpful.
    Thanks for the great content!

P.S. Can you please add the lesson date (that is the date that the lesson is planned to be delivered to the class) as well as the session number. In fact having the lesson date at the beginning of each lesson and at the bottom of each page in the printed material would be helpful (like it used to be). Thanks for listening!
