Bible Story: Peter Learned a Lesson Matthew 18:21-35

Life Point: People can learn from Jesus how to treat others.

Life Verse: Help one another in love. Galatians 5:13

Christ Focus: Jesus has forgiven us.

Bible Focus: Jesus helps people know how to treat others.

Materials: cardboard blocks, vinyl or wooden people figures

  • Arrange the figures with the blocks.
  • As preschoolers play with the figures and the blocks, suggest that they could build a house for the people.
  • Talk about the Bible story as children play. Comment that Jesus wants us to treat other people with kindness.

 3–Pre-K—Decorate a Life Verse Banner

Life Verse: All things work together for good for those who love God. Romans 8:28

Christ Focus: Jesus has forgiven us.

Bible Focus: Peter learned about forgiveness from Jesus.

Materials: long piece of art paper, markers, crayons, colorful circle stickers

  • Tape the paper to the floor or to a wall at the children’s eye level. Print the Life Verse in the center of the paper. Arrange the materials nearby.
  • Read the verse as children come to the center. Talk about the Bible story as children decorate the banner. Encourage them to draw pictures in the blank spaces with the markers or crayons. Suggest that they could use the circle stickers to outline the letters of the verse.
  • Pray and thank God that Jesus has forgiven us.

Kindergarten—Jump and Say the Life Verse

 Life Point: People can learn from Jesus how to treat others.

 Bible Focus: Peter learned about forgiveness from Jesus.

 Materials: construction paper, marker, tape, Giant Game Floormat (optional)

  • Print each word of the Life Verse on a separate sheet of paper. Tape the papers to the floor using a hopscotch pattern or insert them into the pockets of the floor mat.
  • Invite kindergartners to take turns hopping on the words of the verse as you say each word. Encourage them to say the words with you.
  • Talk about parts of the Bible story while children wait for a turn. Thank God that Jesus forgives us.
