Preschool: Jesus Is: Session 6 – It’s Not Going to Be Easy

Session 6—Set the Table

Bible Story: Jesus’ Special Supper Matthew 26:17-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Life Verse: Love others as I have loved you. John 15:12

Life Point: Jesus loves everyone.

Christ Focus: Jesus wants people to love one another.

Bible Focus: Jesus had a special meal with His friends.

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture, toy dishes, construction paper

  • Before the session, trace the outline of the dishes onto sheets of construction paper. Place the paper, dishes, and teaching picture on a table.
  • Encourage children to set the table using the paper as a guide for where to put each dish. Relate this activity to getting ready for a meal. Point to the teaching picture of Jesus having a meal with His friends.
  • Open the Bible and read the Life Verse. Thank God for Jesus and His love.

Life Point: Jesus wants people to love one another.

Bible Story: Jesus’ Special Supper Matthew 26:17-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Christ Focus: The Lord’s Supper reminds us of Jesus and what He did for us.

Bible Focus: Jesus wants us to remember what He did.

  • Materials: Bible, six different-shaped wooden blocks, a sheet of poster board, permanent marker, index cards, tape
  • Trace six different-shaped blocks in a straight line on poster board. Print the words of the Life Verse on six individual index cards.(Print as I on the same card.) Tape the cards on the shaped blocks that you traced, so that the verse will be in order. Set the blocks randomly on the floor.
  • Direct children to match the blocks to the shapes on the paper. Read the Bible phrase. Tell the Bible story.

 

Kindergarten—Dot Paint the Name Jesus

Life Point: Jesus wants people to love one another.

Bible Story: The Last Supper Matthew 26:17-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Life Verse: Love others as I have loved you. John 15:12

Christ Focus: The Lord’s Supper reminds us of Jesus and what He did for us.

 

Bible Focus: Jesus had a special supper with His friends.

Materials: Bible, 12-by-18-inch sheets of construction paper, marker, dot markers or dot stickers

  • Before the session, print the name JESUS large enough to fill a sheet of construction paper for each child.
  • Invite kindergartners to decorate the name JESUS. Encourage them to use the dot markers or dot stickers to place dots on the outline of the word. Ask the children to tell you something they remember about Jesus while they are working on the project.
  • Say a simple prayer thanking God for Jesus as they complete the activity. Open the Bible and read the Life Verse.
