1s & 2s—Make a Handprint Picture

Bible Story: God Helped Daniel Daniel 1:1-20

 

Life Point: God wants us to make good choices.

Life Verse: God said, “I will teach you the way to go.” Psalm 32:8

Christ Focus: Jesus was tempted, yet did not sin.

Bible Focus: Daniel made good choices.

Materials: Bible Story Picture: “God Helped Daniel,” paper, washable paint, aluminum pie pan, paper towels, painting smock, marker

  • Place a wet paper towel in the pie pan. Pour liquid paint over the towel to make a pad.
  • Help a preschooler put on a smock before painting. Guide him to place his hand on the pad and then press it onto a paper. Print the Life Verse on his paper.
  • Show the Bible Story Picture and talk about the Bible story. Comment that he can use his hands to make good choices.

3–Pre-K—Chart Favorite Fruits and Vegetables

Bible Story: Daniel Chose to Obey Daniel 1:1-20

 Life Point: God is wise.

Life Verse: God said, “I will show you the way to go.” Psalm 32:8

 Christ Focus: Jesus is wise.

Bible Focus: Daniel chose to eat vegetables and drink water.

 Materials: Teaching Picture 5, paper, fruit and vegetable stickers, maker

  • Draw a simple chart on the paper. Make a column for children’s names and several columns for the food. Put a sticker at the top of each column. Use fruits and vegetables that are familiar to the children. (If you don’t have stickers, write the name of each food at the top of each column.)
  • Help a child print her name on one row. Assist her in identifying the food in each column and printing a check or other mark in the columns of the foods she likes.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and talk about Daniel’s choice. Comment that God helped Daniel know the right choice to make.

Kindergarten—Make Play Dough Vegetables

  • ive each child a lump of play dough as he comes to the table. Show the Teaching Picture and talk about Daniel’s choice.
  • Suggest children form vegetables from the play dough. Tell them to think about how a certain vegetable looks and then form it.
  • Talk about some of the children’s favorite vegetables.

    The take home picture says Joseph, rather than Daniel. Great picture though. I will just change it. It is a good activity and the kids like the papers.
