1s & 2s—Crawl Through a Tunnel

Bible Story: A Job for Jonah  Jonah 1–4

 

Life Point: God wants us to do what He says.

Life Verse: God said, “I will show you the way to go.” Psalm 32:8

Christ Focus: Jesus came to proclaim salvation to all people.

Bible Focus: Jonah went to Nineveh to tell people about God.

Materials: Bible Story Picture: “A Job for Jonah,” Kids Activity Page, large cardboard box

  • Open both ends of the box and lay it on its side to create a tunnel. Place the Bible Story Picture and Activity Page at the end of the tunnel.
  • Encourage 1s and 2s to crawl or walk through the tunnel. When they reach the end, show the Bible Story Picture and talk about Jonah.
  • Help a child complete the activity on the Activity Page. Thank God for His love.

3–Pre-K—Make Shape People

Bible Story: Jonah Book of Jonah

 Life Point: God is forgiving.

Life Verse: God said, “I will teach you the way to go.” Psalm 32:8

 Christ Focus: God forgives those who trust in Jesus.

Bible Focus: Jonah told the people of Nineveh about God.

 Materials: Teaching Picture 4; construction paper cut into circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles; paper; glue sticks; child-size scissors

  • Display the Teaching Picture with the art supplies. Point to Jonah and tell the children that Jonah traveled to tell the people of Nineveh about God.
  • Invite them to glue the shapes on paper to make people. Offer the scissors to cut any shapes into smaller sizes.
  • Thank God for His love and forgiveness.

Kindergarten—Match Life Verse Words

 Bible Focus: Jonah help the people of Nineveh know what God wanted them to do.

 Materials: Teaching Picture 4, index cards, marker, tape, wooden blocks

  • Print Life Verse on index cards, one word per card. Include the reference. Make two sets.
  • Tape each card to a wooden block. Place the blocks facedown on the floor.
  • Invite two or more kindergartners to play a game by turning over two blocks to find a matching word.
  • When all the matches are found, challenge the children to “build” the verse in order.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and talk about Jonah.
