  1. Brenda Dyer says:

Our preschool leaders (all with appropriate training and years of experience) have been struggling with the new format of the literature but we decided to try another quarter. I have just looked at the material and I am wondering why we are not including Jesus’ birth. It would seem an appropriate time of year to emphasize the “true” meaning of Christmas. Very surprised and disappointed.

  2. Robin Davis says:

I am also very disappointed in the winter materials. We are teaching “The Bible in Life” and in their everyday lives our preschoolers are being bombarded with Santa, Frosty and reindeer. I think that the true Christmas story should be the main theme for the month of December. I’ve been teaching 10+ years and I will be teaching the true Christmas story during the month of December.

I think someone at Life Way made a mistake with not choosing to use the Nativity story in December.

    • Hi Robin,

I agree with you. The commercialization of Christmas is unbelievable. I have four sons and we are constantly trying to teach them that Christmas is about so much more than a new video game. That’s why we provided 1 lesson in the leader guide and four additional lessons for Christmas online. Because of the new flexible date of use, many churches aren’t using the curriculum until after Christmas, so we are having to make different adjustments. Next year the Christmas sessions are all in the leader guide.

Here is a link to the four Extra Christmas sessions.

      • Robin Davis says:

In my opinion the purchased materials should have included the Nativity story and the extra lessons should have been the ones available to download. Not everyone has a computer and access to the internet.

        • Jeff Land says:

          Hi Robin,

The actual Nativity Story, “Jesus Was Born” is printed in every leader guide under the Special Focus section. Please let me know if you need further assistance. We would hate for anyone to miss that story!
