Let Hope In, Session 3: Hope Personified

In this week’s Scripture, Jesus tells the parable of the prodigal son. What we learn from this story is that the loving Father welcomes us because of His love for us. We can place our hope in that truth. Search the Internet for the Skit Guys’ “The Prodigal.” Consider using this retelling of the parable of the prodigal son in your lesson with your students. After watching the video, ask the following questions:

How have you related to the son—wanted to break out on your own, do your own thing, etc.?

What do you think about the father’s response to his son’s behavior?

Were you surprised by the father’s reaction to his son’s return? How would you have reacted?

What does this story tell you about God’s forgiveness and love?
