Finding My Way Around the Bible Studies For Life Blog, Part 1

If you are anything like me, when you buy a new car the first thing you want to do (or one of the first things, anyway) is figure out what all the buttons are for. And, if you’re a lot like me, you will discover what some buttons do days or weeks after you first started driving the car.  Finally, if you’re exactly like me, there’s still that one button to the left of the gearshift that you have no idea what it does.

The Bible Studies for Life blog is a lot like the buttons on a new car. And now that you’ve been using Bible Studies for Life for a little while, maybe you’d like to figure out what some of these other buttons do. We’re here to help.

First, let’s talk about the main blog page (the one that you are on right now). Each component of Bible Studies For Life is committed to posting relevant content on the blog every week. Look for leadership tips, spiritual encouragement, training ideas, photos of children’s classroom set up, and more.  Basically, beginning in October we are following this schedule:

  • Monday: usually a word from one of our small group specialists
  • Tuesday: Focus on Bible Studies For Life: Adults
  • Wednesday: Hear from our General Editor, Dr. Ronnie Floyd
  • Thursday: Focus on Bible Studies For Life Students and Kids
  • Friday: Roundup (collection of blog posts on a certain topic), or giveaways.

There will always be something new on the Bible Studies For Life Blog.

At the bottom of the Adults blog page, you will also find Leader Extras and Latest Articles. These will be on the front page for upcoming sessions. However, if you are looking for the helps and articles for a different session, you can use the search bar to  quickly find all the helps that have been posted for a particular session. The easiest way is to enter the title of the session (“The Pressure of Words,” for example. Putting the phrase in quotes will narrow your search results.

Leader Extras are options that help you modify a session for a particular kind of group— men, women, parents, boomers, or young adults/collegiates. There will also be a Current Events Connection that connects a topic to an event in the news right now. Latest Articles are the articles the Bible Studies For Life: Adult team has identified to go along with each session. Typically there will be different articles selected to go along with the Young Adult, All Adult, and Senior Adult versions.

Of course, with each of these categories, you can also use the buttons at the top of the page to navigate by age group or topic.

There’s lots more to tell you about, but let’s save that for Part 2. Stay tuned!
