Do Over, Session 6: Live it Out Option for parents’ groups

Questions and Answers signpost

Wrap up this session by stating, As parents, we’re told to be in charge. To make decisions. To lead our family. So how does that correlate to what we learned in today’s passage? What role does the Holy Spirit play in being a parent? When was the last time you tapped into the Holy Spirit’s power for parenting?

Share highlights from Dennis Rainey’s interview with Francis Chan on the Holy Spirit’s role in parenting.

  • How does this advice differ from what you strive for as parents? How can you change your parenting philosophy to be more dependent on the Holy Spirit?

Substitute the following question for Question 2 in the Personal Study Guide:

  • How have you explained the Holy Spirit to your kids? How do you discuss His power in your life?

Substitute the following question for Question 3 in the Personal Study Guide:

  • How have you seen the Holy Spirit’s presence in your child? How can you encourage him/her when you do?

We want to hear from you! How are you introducing the topic of the Holy Spirit’s power with the parents in your class or small group?

I like using the new Bible Studies for Life series with my Sunday School class very much. However, we would like to read the follow-up articles from Home Life that are suggested at the end of each lesson, but we do not know which issue of Home Life to find them in. Could you include an indication of the issue each article is in? I have tried finding this info on the website, but it is not always listed. This would be a great help! Thanks.

Hi! Each article we reference can be found in its entirety on the website. If you don’t see it right away, just enter the title if the article in the search bar at the top right. If you put the title in quotes, it will narrow your search more efficiently.
