The Point: Because of Jesus’ resurrection, nothing can defeat you–not even death.


  • Have you ever been on a losing team (or cheered for a losing team) – how did that feel?
  • In your opinion, why do so many people come to church on Resurrection Sunday and then never come back till the next year?
  • How does your family typically celebrate Resurrection Sunday?
  • How is Resurrection Sunday different from every other Sunday to you personally?
  • What does your church body do to emphasize Resurrection Sunday? What do you do as a family to make Easter special?

1 Corinthians 15:20-23

  • As senior adults we’ve lived long enough to experience the sting of death – so as Christ-followers, how do we experience the victory over death?
  • How does the certainty of the resurrection bring us hope right now, and in the future?
  • Reflect on the agony that Jesus went through. How does it demonstrate His love for you?
  • Why is it important to teach children not to blame others for their disobedience?
  • What is the difference in a tree that is dead and a tree that is alive? Similarly, how can you tell if you are spiritually alive or dead?
  • What does it mean to “follow Jesus?” What does it mean to “choose Christ?” Do you “identify” yourself with Christ? How?
  • How has the reality of Christ’s resurrection made a death to life difference in your own life?
  • How should we respond—daily—to show our appreciation for Christ’s willingness to sacrifice all for us? How well do you do those things?
  • What do you think the differences are between physical death and spiritual death?
  • What is dangerous about putting faith in our money, our friends and our abilities?
  • When you consider the horrific torture involved with crucifixion, how does it cause you to think about Jesus?
  • How has the reality of Christ’s resurrection made a death-to-life difference in your own life? Have there been habits you’ve had to change? relationships? attitudes?

  • Have you ever read a book or watched a movie where you knew the ending before you started?
  • What is it we like about knowing how things end before the ending arrives?
  • In what area of your life do you struggle most to live in victory? Explain your answer.
  • What are some “but now” stories in your own life? How did Jesus’ power come through for you? Who needs to hear that story as they sit on the hopeless-looking side of their own “but now” story?
